The meaning of the name
Mime's Well (Mimes Brønn in Norwegian) is the source of knowledge in Norse mythology. The well lies beneath one of the roots of the world tree Yggdrasil, and the wise Mime successfully guarded it. Odin, the most powerful and wise of the Norse gods, gained his knowledge as he sacrificed his own eye to drink from Mime's well in order to understand the world he had created.
